(For piercing through lip and/or cheek, follow external care instructions as
WELL)
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR PIERCING.
DO NOT PLAY WITH YOUR JEWELRY!!!
This shop uses STERILE TOOLS, SINGLE USE NEEDLES, AND STERILE JEWELRY. The
healing success of your piercing depends on you. Please take these care
instructions seriously. If you maintain a healthy diet, and get enough rest, you
will help your body to heal itself quicker. YOU WILL DECIDE HOW WELL YOUR
PIERCING WILL HEAL BY THE CARE YOU GIVE IT.
DO NOT DRINK BEER, & AVOID ALCOHOL, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST 10-14 DAYS. BEER WILL
MAKE YOU SWELL WORSE!! AVOID EXCESS SUGAR & DAIRY.
DO NOT PLAY WITH THE JEWELRY. THAT WOULD BE LIKE WALKING ON A BROKEN LEG so…
DON’T PLAY WITH THE JEWELRY, IT WILL HEAL SLOW AND WRONG
DO NOT ALLOW CONTACT WITH ANY BODY PARTS OR BODILY FLUIDS (yours or your
friends) ON YOUR PIERCING FOR THE WHOLE INITIAL HEALING TIME ( 4-8 WEEKS ). THIS
INCLUDES DEEP KISSING, ORAL SEX, ETC. YOU HAVE THE OPEN WOUND AND ARE ABLE TO
RECEIVE ANY BACTERIAL OR VIRAL INFECTION. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PIERCING WITH DIRTY HANDS.
WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU PLAY WITH YOUR JEWELRY:
DOUBLE THE HEALING TIME - INCREASED SWELLING – SORENESS – INFECTION
SCARRING - SKIN GROWTH - SCAR TISSUE - JEWELRY MIGRATION – CHIPPED TEETH
- Expect 5-10 days of swelling, longer if you play with your jewelry.
- Use ice to minimize swelling for the first several days. Do not suck on ice,
just rest on the tongue.
- You can use an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen to help minimize swelling.
FOLLOW THE LABEL FOR DIRECTIONS ON USAGE
- When brushing your teeth, brush barbell and tongue gently TOP & BOTTOM balls,
labret disc, etc. (Recommendation: buy a new soft bristle toothbrush to avoid
irritation) Plaque will build up on your jewelry and irritate your piercing if
you do not.
- Rinse after every time you EAT – DRINK – SMOKE (except water) or every 3-4
hours with an ANTIBACTERIAL rinse for 1 FULL MINUTE. BIOTINE or TECH 2000 are
the recommended products. You may also use a sea-salt and water solution. Mix a
¼ teaspoon (or a pinch) to 8 oz. Cup of warm distilled water. Bottled water is
acceptable if needed, but distilled is much better. Remember to rinse for 60
FULL SECONDS each time.
- The less you smoke the faster your piercing will heal. Smokers can expect to
double heal time if you do not stop for the first few weeks.
- Before eating and especially at bedtime, WITH CLEAN HANDS, check tightness of
balls on barbell. Hold the top ball with one hand and then turn the bottom ball
with the other, to the left for tightness.
- When sleeping keep your head above your heart with an extra pillow or two, to
keep overnight swelling down.
- Spicy foods may irritate your fresh piercing. Chewy foods may cause you to
bite down on the new jewelry.
- Downsize the jewelry for comfort & safety when the swelling is completely
gone. This is usually in 2 or 3 weeks.
IF you do not play with your new piercing, you can be initially healed in about
3-4 weeks. Expect 6-8 weeks of heal time. DO NOT use your new piercing for any
sexual contact, including deep kissing, for at LEAST 6-8 weeks. You have the
open wound and are able to receive any bacteria or viral infection. This is for
your own safety. NO contact with anyone else’s body parts or fluids, do not play
with the piercing for at least the first 6-7 weeks. (Would you let someone lick
on/spit in a cut?)
